2 people shot dead at Oxnard transport center

Oxnard police are investigating a shooting that took place Sunday morning that left a 34-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man dead at the Oxnard transportation center.

Police were called to the transit center at 201 E. 4th St. at 6:30 a.m. after reports of two unresponsive and bleeding people, authorities said. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene and their identities are withheld pending family notice. One victim was said to have been homeless, police said.

The two victims were found on a bench on the platform of the train station along the track, according to the police, north of the transport center. The timeline of the shooting is yet to be determined, but police said they believe the victims died just hours before they were found.

According to Sgt. Edgar Fernandez, the investigation is still in its early stages. He said no arrests had been made as of Monday morning.

The city of Oxnard is offering a $25,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person responsible for the murders. Investigators encourage anyone with information related to the case to contact Det. Kaya Boysan at (805) 385-7645.
