Melbourne vs Sydney Betting Tips
MCG, Saturday 4e June 7:25 PM (AEST)
Injuries: Blake Howes (foot), Steven May (concussion), Joel Smith (ankle)
There are currently only three players on the Demons injury list, but one of them is Steven May, who is a crucial part of their team structure. He will miss the next 1-2 weeks as he is recovering from a concussion.
After going undefeated for the first 10 rounds of the season, the Demons finally got their first loss of their campaign at the hands of the Dockers. The Demons led by four goals at the main break and appeared to be in control, but a concussion from their best defender in Steven May made all the difference and the Dockers came out on their own. Regardless of that result, it has been an impressive premiership defense by the Demons, insofar as they are currently clearly at the top of the ladder for one game.
Injuries: Harry Cunningham (abdomen), Tom Hickey (toe), Josh Kennedy (hamstring), Sam Naismith (knee), Angus Sheldrick (knee), Lance Franklin (suspension)
The Swans also don’t have many players that are not available for selection, but will still be missing some key figures. Buddy Franklin will miss this game due to suspension, while Tom Hickey and Josh Kennedy continue to miss due to injury.
The Swans looked to be heading for their fourth loss in five games when they trailed the Tigers by more than five goals in the third quarter, but they were able to rally hard in the final quarter and a bit to take 106-100 winners. defeat. Sadly, superstar Buddy Franklin was wiped out due to a hit on Trent Cotchin, which put a damper on a great win. That win was the Swans’ seventh of the season and remains within the top eight for now.
The Demons will clearly strive to get back on the winner’s list straight away after their long streak of wins was broken last weekend, but Steven May is the most important player for the Demons in my opinion and his presence will be sorely missed this weekend . No, Buddy Franklin certainly doesn’t even go down a bit in that part of the ground, but I still believe the Demons will be vulnerable to some of the Swans’ long forwards.
This is the best chance the swans get to take out the demons for quite some time and while they may not get the chocolates I expect them to keep everything close by to minimize the spread.
Sydney Swans +24.5 (1.5 UNITS)
Errol Gulden is enjoying a strong second season in the league and remains a key player for the Swans. He has scored in 7/11 games this season, including four of his last six. I like its value to make it again Saturday night.
Errol Gulden Anytime Goal Kicker ($2.35 Ladbrokes)
Luke Jackson hasn’t been quite at his best in the past month, but he still gets a lot of the footy for a big man. He has had 15+ touches in each of his last three games and will be coming up against a Swans side that is missing from the rucks division. He should be able to get a lot of it again on Saturday.
Luke Jackson 15+ Divestments ($1.80 Ladbrokes)
Kozzie Pickett was unable to score multiple goals in four consecutive games when he kicked just one against the Dockers last weekend. Still, the young star has 12 in his last six appearances and will face a Swans defense who don’t have a good match for him. Really like him in 2+ and 3+ markets here.
Kysaiah Pickett 2+ Goals ($2.30 Ladbrokes)
