Collingwood vs Melbourne betting tips
MCG, Monday 13e June 3:20 PM (AEST)
Injuries: Charlie Dean (foot), Brodie Grundy (knee), Will Kelly (hip), Nathan Kreuger (shoulder), Jack Madgen (shoulder), Reef McInnes (shoulder), Tom Wilson (back)
The Magpies are currently not without too many of their key players. Brodie Grundy is four weeks away with a knee injury, Jack Madgen is three weeks away with a shoulder, while Reef McInnes will miss the rest of the season.
After a couple of bad defeats in rounds 8 and 9, the Magpies are back in shape and have won each of their last three games, including two against the top eight of the Dockers and the Blues. The Magpies survived a scare against the dangerous Hawks last weekend, led by young star Nick Daicos who had 36 sales. The Magpies are now 7-5 on the season and could finish the round in eighth place if they win on Monday.
Injuries: Blake Howes (Foot), Steven May (Suspension), Tom McDonald (Ankle), Jake Melksham (Hand), Fraser Rosman (Hamstring), Joel Smith (Ankle)
Steven May and Jake Melksham are both unavailable due to their altercation a few days ago. Also on the sidelines are key posts Joel Smith and Tom McDonald, both of whom have ankle injuries.
The Demons rode 10-0 but are now in a sort of slump, exacerbated by some internal fighting after last weekend’s loss. The Demons have lost back-to-back games to the Dockers and the Swans, despite leading 4+ goals in both games. Still, the Demons remain at the top of the ladder and can stay one game away from the Lions and the Dockers with a good performance against the Magpies.
If this match were played a few weeks ago, the Demons would be the overwhelming favorites, but a lot has changed in the past two weeks and the Magpies will feel like they have a legitimate shot at their fourth win in a row. In addition, the Magpies have performed well in this game with wins in four of their last five attempts against the Demons, including last year when they won 80-63 in Nathan Buckley’s last game as coach. With history on their side and recent form, I’m happy to be with the Magpies to at least cover the spread on Monday afternoon.
Collingwood Magpies +16.5 (1 UNIT)
Josh Daicos has had a very good consistent football season and is a reliable leg for your Same Game Multis. He has had over 20 touches on the ball in 9/12 games this season and continues to be a good value.
Josh Daicos 20+ Divestments ($1.73 Ladbrokes)
Nick Daicos exploded for 36 dives against the Hawks last weekend and is said to have gained a lot of confidence from his performance. He’s a natural winner of the ball and I can see him going through with it against the Demons.
Nick Daicos 25+ Divestments ($1.88 Ladbrokes)
Brody Mihocek started the season with 18 goals from his first eight games before going through a few quiet weeks. However, he’s getting an inside look at a vulnerable Melbourne defense this week and I see him getting a lot of looks at the big sticks.
Brody Mihocek 2+ Goals ($1.90 Ladbrokes)
