Richmond vs Port Adelaide Betting Tips

MCG, Thursday, June 9, 7:20 p.m. (AEST)

Injuries: Tom Lynch (Out) Noah Balta, Kane Lambert (Test)

The Tigers are looking good on the injury front right now. Tom Lynch will remain on the sidelines for at least another week, but both Noah Balta and Kane Lambert could return to the sidelines this week.

After four consecutive wins, the Tigers finally dropped a game to the Swans on Round 11. The bye on round 12 gave them a chance to reset and heal some of their key players. They are currently outside the top eight by just one game, but have a game on their hands against the two teams directly above them in the Bulldogs and Magpies.

The Tigers have been one of the top scoring teams in the league for the past five games and have begun to rebuild that aggressive style that made them so successful. They’ve racked up 115 points per game in those five weeks and are only behind the Lions all season in terms of points per game.

Port Adelaide

Injuries: Orazio Fantasia, Scott Lycett, Jake Pasini, Josh Sinn (Out) Trent McKenzie (Test)

Like their opponents, the Powers will not be hindered too much by injuries coming into this Thursday-evening game. Only Fantasia and Lycett are confirmed of their best 22, while Trent McKenzie must pass a fitness test in order to play.

Having lost their first five games of the season, the Power looked well on their way to fighting for a place in the final after winning four consecutive games. That run backfired somewhat on round 10 when they went to the Cats by 35 points at GMHBA Stadium.

However, they were able to go into the bye round with some momentum, after beating the Bombers in a rather unconvincing performance in Round 11. They won by just 16 points but looked shaky for long periods during the game.

Match Prediction

Despite Richmond’s long reign over the past five years, they haven’t really had the forest above Port Adelaide. It is probably due to the fact that seven of their last eight matches have been played against each other at Adealide Oval.

I think the Tigers have a solid lead at the MCG, especially considering they would only need one injury on Thursday night to be at full strength. I expect they will cover the small 13.5 point line at home.

Prop bet

Dustin Martin played just five games this season, but scored seven goals and made multiple majors in two of them. In his last three games against the Power, he has scored a total of six goals.

When the two sides last met, Jayden Short had 31 hits, including a whopping 25 kicks. He scored 113 fantasy points that night and is in great form this season, averaging 103.7 per game. Another big 110+ night on Thursday seems like a good price.
