TL;DR

  • Fossil has announced its Gen 6 Hybrid smartwatch with SpO2 tracking and Amazon Alexa support.
  • The device will hit shelves worldwide on July 27 for a starting price of $229.
  • The company has also released a redesigned version of its companion app Fossil Smartwatches.

For a wearable that packs high-tech features into a traditional aesthetic, a hybrid smartwatch is hard to beat. Today, Fossil announced a new option coming to the market, the new Gen 6 Hybrid. Like all Fossil smartwatches, the new generation takes design elements from the company’s classic analog lineup and packs them with features.

The Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid range will feature two designs the Machine and the Stella. The size of the machine housing measures 45mm with a textured edge reminiscent of, you guessed it, machines. It is available in black, silver or smoke. The Stella has a smaller 40.5mm case with a beveled design and optional bling rings. It is available in Rose Gold, Silver and Two-tone colorways. Both models use interchangeable straps (24mm and 18mm respectively) with bracelet options in mesh or three-link metallics and classic strap options in leather and silicone.

The headliners include support for Amazon Alexa, a new microphone for assistant access and a brand new SpO2 sensor. According to the company, the device will also boast a two-week battery life and offer improved heart rate monitoring. These features are in addition to basic health and fitness tracking, smart notifications, and customizable watch faces. Finally, a redesigned user interface will now mirror the rounded design of the device for a more intuitive user experience.

Additionally, Fossil has released a redesigned version of its companion smartwatch app: Fossil Smartwatches. Users can expect more personalization and clear statistics in the updated app. These include a daily collection of key stats. New users can start their experience by downloading the app for Android or iOS. Current Fossil hybrid owners will receive the update automatically.

You can purchase a Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid on June 27 on Fossil.com or in Fossil stores. Casual styles like leather and silicone are priced at $229. For a metal bracelet model, you’ll have to pay more than $20 extra.
