Activision Blizzard is currently under investigation over allegations of harassment, discrimination and fostering a hostile work environment. You can read more about the research here.
Historically, Blizzard Entertainment has designed its games with PC players in mind. However, Blizzard has put in more effort in recent years to get more of their titles on consoles. While games like World of Warcraft and StarCraft 2 are still exclusive to PC platforms, other Blizzard IPs such as: diablo and overwatch are easily accessible on various consoles. Of course, Blizzard’s effort to get their games into the hands of more console users really started in the early days of the company’s “Activision Blizzard era.” Quite a bit has changed since then in ways that some fans fear will affect how, when and if they play Diablo 4 and overwatch 2†
Earlier this year, Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. Thanks to this transaction, Microsoft now owns all Activision and Blizzard IPs under the sun, including: diablo† overwatch† Dutyand Crash Bandicoot† This is why trailers for Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 popped up during the 2022 Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. After all, what better time for Microsoft to show off its latest additions? While those trailers wowed viewers (well…mostly), they also raised significant concerns regarding those games’ future platforms. Now that Microsoft owns diablo and overwatch, will they actually still be releasing them on PlayStation platforms? Fortunately, the answer is “yes”.
Search the web enough and you’ll find Activision Blizzard’s press release site. Two recent additions tackle Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2† Their respective press releases explicitly state that the games will launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, in addition to PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S (it looks like the Nintendo Switch will be withdrawn for now). Admittedly, that disclosure seems at odds with what was presented at the 2022 Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.
