EXCLUSIVE† Girl meets world actors August Maturo and Ava Kolker team up again for Just Like You – Food Allergies, a new docu-drama VR project, which wrapped production. Maturo serves as executive producer, with Kolker on board as producer.
By telling compelling stories, the project will show people what it’s like to live with food allergies — taking over the stigma and potentially life-threatening consequences of chronic diseases that affect 32 million Americans. It is based on the personal experiences of Maturo, who suffered a potentially fatal anaphylactic reaction at the age of six on the set of Girl meets world, and went on to become an outspoken advocate of childhood food allergies. The 14-year-old is currently a national spokesperson for FAACT (Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Connection Team), who previously held that role for Mylan Pharmaceuticals EpiPen and the nonprofit FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education).
food allergy will be presented in multiple formats, including as a narrative short in a documentary, a standalone short, and a 360-degree VR movie.
