Aussie couple get engaged in London at Ed Sheeran concert as singer sends best wishes

An Australian couple got engaged during Ed Sheeran‘s concert in London, and it was all caught on camera for the Hit Network Carrie & Tommy program.

radio duo Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little had sent the Adelaide couple, Mike and Amanda – along with a bunch of other listeners – to the UK on a free trip to watch Sheeran at Wembley Stadium.

But soon Mike told the radio hosts (who were also with them) that he wasn’t just there to sing some tunes – he was there to get on one knee and propose to Amanda.

“We’ve been dating for three years, we just bought a house together, moved to Adelaide, had a baby and I think it’s time,” he told Bickmore and Little prior to the proposal.

“I called her father this morning and talked to old Jimmy and asked for his daughter’s hand.”

Mike also sent this message directly to Amanda: “You’ve made my life more than I could ever imagine. Our ride has just begun and it’s amazing. It’s really great to be with you.”

When Little thought about “emergency plans” the answer might be no, Mike joked that he “kept the receipt”. Watch the clip above.

But they don’t have to refer to Plan B because Amanda said yes, while Bickmore, Little and their group of listeners all cheered on Mike. After the proposal, they also checked in with the couple and told that Sheeran herself had joined in the plan.

The radio hosts then told the couple – Mike was also left in the dark – that the British singer had sent them his get well wishes via video.

“Mike and Amanda, congratulations on the proposal going well and I hope you have a fantastic wedding and a fantastic rest of your lives together,” said Sheeran in the clip Bickmore played for the couple.
