Australian great Glen Boss backs Dettori to bounce back | Racing News

Three-time Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Glen Boss has backed Frankie Dettori to continue showing his talents in the saddle.

Now retired, Boss won everything there was to win in Australia and will forever be associated with Makybe Diva and her three straight wins in the ‘race that stops a nation’. He also won the Cox Plate on the great mare, as he did with So You Think, Ocean Park and Sir Dragonet.

Dettori and John Gosden are on a much talked about “sabbatical”, but Boss told Racing.com: “He is still very good at his job.

“I would have him on every horse, in every race, on every day of the week.”

Boss also touched on what it’s like for high-profile jockeys at the end of their careers.

“More than ever you have to exert pressure and prove it and I got tired of that,” he said.

“That’s one of the things that kept me from riding, I got so tired of having to prove myself to everyone all the time.”
