Baby’s father charged with murder of New York stroller pushing mother

NEW YORK (AP) — The ex-boyfriend of a New York woman who was shot and killed Wednesday after pushing their daughter into a stroller has been arrested and charged with killing her, police said Friday.

The family of murdered mother Azsia Johnson identified suspect Isaac Argro as the baby’s father and said he routinely assaulted Johnson, beat her during her pregnancy and threatened to kill her.

Argro, 22, is charged with murder and criminal weapons possession, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said. Information about a lawyer who could speak on his behalf was not immediately available.

Johnson, 20, was gunned down around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Lexington Avenue and 95th Street on the Upper East Side. She was pronounced dead in a hospital. The three-month-old baby in the pram was not injured, police said, but was taken to a hospital for medical examination.
