Bachelor Nation’s Cam Ayala Takes Steps Toward Recovery As New Amputee

Bachelor Nations Cam Ayala is steadily recovering from leg amputation surgery, with the support of his loved ones.

Last week, the 33-year-old Austin, Texas resident had his right leg amputated after a lifelong battle with lymphedema, an incurable disease in which fluid builds up in soft body tissues and causes swelling in limbs. He has since documented his recovery from surgery on Instagram, sharing photos and videos of himself with visiting friends at the hospital, where he exercises with a walker with the help of his father.

“Day 3 in the life of an #amputee with some of my Day 1s from @tamu to Fort Worth to ATX to HTown to @thestoryhouston,” Ayala wrote on June 25. “#FaithOverFear #CAMputee #CAMputation #ToGodBeTheGlory #Lymphedema #Friends #family”

Ayala, who competed for Hannah Brown‘s heart in season 15 of the bachelorette published in 2019 and later Bachelor in Paradise that year, he had also shared a video of him practicing walking the day before after his surgery.
