BAFTA Dates 2023 Film Awards, Berlin Clash
BAFTA has announced that the Film Awards will be held in London on Sunday, February 19, 2023, meaning it will once again take place during the Berlin Film Festival, taking place from February 16 to 26. The ceremony will take place three weeks before the Oscars, which are scheduled for March 12, 2023. The full timeline and eligibility details for the BAFTA awards will be announced in the coming months. Ghana lineup film and TV studio
The National Film Authority of Ghana has signed an agreement with Pixel Ray Studios LLC to lead the construction of a full-service, multi-purpose film and production studio in West Africa. Film and TV company Pixel Ray Studios is tasked with building ten sound stages on 200 acres of land in Ghana designated by the NFA. The studio will have an estimated 150,000 square feet of production space with facilities for visual, animation and audio/music effects for movies, TV commercials, OTT content, podcasts and music videos. Pixel Ray has “committed to employing a globally trained and locally based crew to meet all production needs”. The CEO of the National Film Authority, Ms. Juliet Yaa Asantewa Asante: “Our partnership with Pixel Ray Studios comes at the right time Ghana positions itself as a movie hub and cinema gateway to Africa. Ghana is the second largest film producer on the African continent and the headquarters of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA). It’s just right that Ghana not only opens its doors to the world of filmmakers, but also provides them with the most modern facilities to take a project from pre-production to post.” The founders of Pixel Ray Studios are Audu Maikori, Franklin “Twizz” David, Danielle Johnson and Ojoma Ochai.
Line-up for London screenings revealed
Movie London announced the list of titles to be screened this month London Screening event† The lineup includes two Bankside titles that will be screened as premieres: The almond and the seahorse and Silver Servers† The premiere will also be manfish and There is always hope from Movie House Entertainment. Two more premieres Hamlet Inside and Giant Countrycome in from Screenbound and new sales company Play Human. This year’s new Breakthrough part London screenings will feature two fiction films, winners and Zerothe latter coming from the second slate of Film Londonlow-budget film program Microwave. For the first time there will also be a dedicated documentary section in the Breakthrough section, there will be a presentation of Doc Society titles and a BFI Work In Progress showcase.
