Bayern Munich sticks to position: Lewandowski will not leave this summer | american football

Bayern Munich insist that Polish striker Robert Lewandowski will stay with the squad next season.

The Bavarians are ignoring the player’s messages and the optimism in Barcelona about winning his signature.

Uli Hoeness, the former player and former chairman of the Bavarian club, said the team “relies on Lewandowski”.

He continued: “Next season there will be deals and a new face for the team, and if everything presented to me last week is successful, we will have a strong and competitive team with Lewandowski.”

In the same vein, he sent a letter to Barcelona and the player’s agent, Pini Zahavi.

“It didn’t go the way Lewandowski and his agent wanted, that’s why they’re angry,” Hoeness said.

Lewandowski’s contract with Bayern expires next year and this is the club’s last chance to take advantage of it, but Hoeness is in favor of keeping the Pole.

“If you don’t have a replacement that you think can replace him to some extent – which seems difficult at the moment – I would recommend that they keep him on for another year, after which we’ll see if he leaves for free or gets renewed.” Hoeness said.

And the German newspaper “Bild” reported that Barcelona’s new offer to sign the 33-year-old striker, the top scorer in the German league (Bundesliga), will be presented before the end of this week.

It was reported that Barca’s first offer was close to €32 million, and the Bavarian team saw it as an inappropriate offer, but Barcelona are financially constrained due to the club’s large debts.

Lewandowski has a contract with Bayern that runs until 2023 and he asked to leave during the current summer transfer window, which the Bavarian club’s management was denied.

The Bayern top scorer spoke – in an earlier press interview – about his current situation, saying: “Something has died in me, I am leaving because I am looking for new feelings in my life, after all these years I am always available to playing despite injuries and pain, I think it’s better to find a good solution for both.” “Both sides, we should not make a unilateral decision, that makes no sense after all this time.”
