Bzzzz. Do you hear that? Bzzzz. That’s the sound of bees buzzing with excitement because APICO coming to Nintendo Switch.
In case you missed it, beekeeper sim APICO released on May 20 for PC and is an absolute delight. You play as a beekeeper and learn the ins-and-outs of maintaining a healthy hive while learning the importance of bees. It rocks, rolls and rules. The art style is a super sweet mix of simple and detailed pixel art, and the soundtrack is soft on the ears… like honey!
Now developer TNgineers and publisher Whitethorn Games (Wytchwood, Calico, Princess Farmer) have decided to bless us further in more ways than one. The team has announced that APICO coming to Nintendo Switch on July 7, 2022† Watch their Nintendo Switch trailer below.
In a press release, Whitethorn Games also notes that the launch of APICO for Nintendo Switch also comes with cross-platform play, stating:
Soon, novice beekeepers will be able to explore Port APICO on the go, and with the addition of cross-platform play, novice beekeepers can easily take their Nintendo Virtual Bees to their friends’ farms on PC and other consoles!
This means that those who play APICO on Nintendo Switch and PC can play together in the game’s 4-player online co-op, something quite rare in indie games. You like to see it.
You may have noticed that I said “in more ways than one” above in reference to TNgineers and Whitethorn Games blessing us. That’s because they’ve also teamed up with plush toy manufacturer Makeship to bring Beeatrice, a plush bee designer from TNgineers, to life. Please look at her.

I personally have been absolutely loving APICO for many reasons and have learned a lot about bees and beekeeping. It is a very nice and laid back sim for beekeeping management that I can Bee the goalkeeper I could only dream of it. You should also praise the window management in this game which makes it easy and manageable to move from window to window.
