Britney Spears’ ex-husband refused bail and remains in jail

Britney Spears’ ex-husband has been refused bail and will remain behind bars after being charged with stalking and four felonies.

Alexander, 40, was charged with the violations after he went to the singer’s Los Angeles home and tried to crash her marriage to Sam Asghari last week.

In addition to the felony charge, he faced two counts of felony battery, one count of felony vandalism and one count of misdemeanor misdemeanor after the incident.

He pleaded innocent on all counts at a hearing on Monday, although his bail was set at $100,000 (£82,000). A restraining order was also issued requiring him to remain at least 100 yards from the pop star for three years.

During a bail hearing on Wednesday at the Ventura County District Court, his request for bail was rejected by Judge Catherine Voelker, as was his request to be released from prison.

He was remanded in custody and will be in the Ventura County jail next week pending two preliminary hearings.

Last Thursday, the intimate wedding ceremony took place between the singer, 40, and her 28-year-old fitness trainer partner Asghari.

Well-known celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, Donatella Versace and Madonna attended.

Shortly before the incident, Alexander had posted an Instagram Live story from off Spears’ premises in which he said he was there to “crash” the wedding.

He was arrested by officers from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and taken to jail.

Alexander was the singer’s first husband, but the two were married for less than three days in 2004 before they were annulled.

His next court hearings are scheduled for June 22 and 24.
