Yellow over brown, with a rear window shade, the KE70 is period perfection.
Fancy a modern classic that will do you good at grandma’s?
The single owner Corolla sedan, which looks 80s in yellow (paint code 541) over brown cloth seats, has just over 200,000 miles on it and has been recently serviced.
Built at the Toyota Port Melbourne factory by Australian Motor Industries (majority owned by Toyota), the KE70 is the fourth generation of the world’s best-selling nameplate.
It was offered in sedan, wagon and panel van, as well as in a variant through the fully imported T-18 coupe.
At the time, this yellow Corolla Nanna would have returned $8006. With inflation, that works out to $29,850 or about the same as a 2022 Corolla SX gasoline sedan ($28,795 plus on-road costs). Unfortunately not available in yellow.
The KE70’s 1.3-litre, four-cylinder, carbureted petrol engine produces 54 kW and the three-speed automatic transmission drives the rear wheels. The Corolla has an AM/FM radio and, impressively, air conditioning.
Recent work includes replacement of the rear main seal, valve cover gasket, new battery and crankcase seals.
Offered for a $16,470 drive, the classic Toyota could make a fun weekender for a passionate Corolla fan, or even for someone who had one and wants to bring back the memories.
