Chris Bowen should not take climate questions ‘personally’

Sky News political editor Andrew Clennell says he would advise Energy Secretary Chris Bowen not to take questions about Labor policy personally after an outburst over renewable energy.

Mr Bowen was asked at a media conference on Thursday about extending the life of coal-fired generators and replied that not enough has been invested in renewable energy.

“It seems a bit like he’s a real believer, to be honest, especially in Labour’s climate policy,” Mr Clennell told Sky News presenter Andrew Bolt.

‘If I were to advise him, I would say: don’t take it personally.

“I’ve obviously seen many politicians make this mistake, not least Scott Morrison. Getting to the core of the question and tackling it, that’s what you have to do.”
