Controversy over, Barcelona decide Osman Dembele’s future (video)

Barcelona have finally decided on the future of French winger Ousmane Dembele during the current summer transfer window.

Dembele’s contract with Barcelona expired at the end of June, without renewing it, but negotiations between the player and his representatives on the one hand and Barca on the other continued, with the French international wishing to continue in the “Blaugrana” shirt .

Negotiations between the two sides have indeed succeeded and a final agreement has been reached between Barcelona and Dembele to extend the contractual relationship between them until the summer of 2024, according to the French newspaper L’Equipe.

Barcelona is expected to officially announce the extension of Dembele’s contract in the coming hours, and the player is expected to participate in the team’s mission, which will travel to a preparatory camp in the United States of America on July 19.

A video circulated on Dembele’s social networking sites upon his arrival at Barcelona airport, in preparation for the signing of the new contract with the Catalan club.

“L’Equipe” revealed a surprise regarding the reports that spoke of Dembélé’s salary, which was the point of contention between the player and Barcelona, as it confirmed it would not realistically be cut by 40%, as was promoted by some Catalan newspapers, mainly because the latter did not charge bonuses and incentives.

The famous French newspaper pointed out that there are a number of performance bonuses enshrined in Dembele’s new contract, which will allow him to significantly increase his wages, even if the base salary has already been reduced.

But with the bonuses available, Dembele’s annual salary will eventually come close to his previous salary, which was EUR 10 million net.

The credit for Dembele’s continuation is mainly due to Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez, who pressured the club’s management and the player even in difficult times of negotiations to remove any obstacles to reaching this deal.

It is worth noting that Dembele has suffered many injuries since his move to Barcelona in the summer of 2017, coming from Borussia Dortmund, during which time he took part in just 149 games, scoring 32 goals and scoring 34.
