Anti-government protesters took to the streets in Khartoum, Sudan, on June 30 when demonstrations across the country left at least nine dead, according to a medical group that has been monitoring victims since protests began in October 2021. for the protests to continue until the military, which took power in a coup last fall, resigns. These images uploaded to Twitter by @HkZuk show protesters marching through the streets in the south of the city, holding banners that read: “No negotiation, no cooperation, no legitimacy” and “Down with military rule”, waving with flags and chanting to protest against the coup. Thursday’s protests came on the anniversary of a previous coup – on June 30, 1989 – that led to three decades of authoritarian rule by former General Omar al-Bashir.
