Despite Egypt’s Al-Ahly rumors, Rudi Garcia signs Saudi victory contracts

Saudi club Al-Nasr ended controversy over French coach Rudi Garcia’s fate after he managed to hire him to lead the squad for the foreseeable future.

The name Rudy Garcia has been linked to the training of Egypt’s Al-Ahly in the coming period, succeeding South African Pitso Musimani, who left the team in June.

The Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadia published photos of Musli Al Muammar, president of the Al-Nasr Club, and French coach Rudi Garcia, in a hotel in the French capital Paris.

Garcia, 58, was one of the options left for Egypt’s Al-Ahly to succeed South African coach Pitso Mosimane.

Musimani left Al-Ahly’s leadership after 20 months in charge and decided to terminate the contract, which ran until the summer of 2024, by mutual consent.

Rudi Garcia is preparing for his first experience in Arab stadiums, and his second outside of France, after working as a coach for Italian Roma between 2013 and 2016.

In his coaching career, Garcia moved between several French clubs, most notably Saint-Etienne, Lille, Olympique Marseille and finally Olympique Lyon.

Rudi Garcia is expected to take over from Argentinian Miguel Angel Rosso, whose contract with Al-Nasr Saudi Arabia expires at the end of the current season.
