Disney under fire for employee who interrupted marriage proposal in park – Deadline

A video interrupting a marriage proposal at a Disneyland Paris theme park has sparked online condemnation for ruining a couple’s special moment.

Newsweek reports that the video, which was initially posted to Reddit and has now gone viral, has been updated 85,000 times.

The man who proposed to his girlfriend reportedly asked permission from a park worker before assembling a platform in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle to ask the question. Falling to his knee holding a ring box, a male worker rushes onto the scene, firing between the pair and grabbing the ring box. He then steps off the platform and gestures to the couple to complete their ceremony from the platform.

“We regret the way this has been handled,” a Disney spokesperson told Newsweek. “We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right.”

In 2018, a man sued the company for interrupting his proposal at Orlando’s Disney World. The lawsuit also charged an employee with physical harassment.

A request for comment to Disney Corporate about both incidents was not immediately returned.
