Duo “Man on Fire” Reunites for “Equalizer 3”

20th Century Fox

Nearly twenty years after co-starring in “Man on Fire,” actors Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning appear to be reuniting for Antoine Fuqua’s third “The Equalizer” film at Sony Pictures.

The project continues the cinematic, standalone version of the 1980s TV series of the same name, and its 2018 follow-up, which marked Washington’s first-ever sequel.

In the movies, Washington plays Robert McCall, a former Marine who smashes a violent path through those who wrong — Russian mobsters in the first, and his former squadmates became mercenaries in the second.

Richard Wenk returns to write the third performance, which will again be produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Washington. The details of the plot are secret.

Fanning has been sticking to television lately with her roles in TNT’s “The Alienist” and Showtime’s “The First Lady”.

“The Equalizer 3” will hit theaters on September 1, 2023.
