ABU DHABI, June 5 (WAM) – Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal won his 14th French Open title, Roland Garros, on Sunday in the final game of the tournament, by Norwegian Casper Ruud 6-3, 6-3, 6- 0 to beat.

Nadal, 36, fifth in the world and fifth in the tournament, had no trouble beating his opponent, the eighth seed, as the great Spanish star dominated the match from start to finish.

Nadal thwarted young rival Ruud, the first Norwegian to take part in the Roland Garros final in the tournament’s history, but 23-year-old Ruud moves on to sixth in the ATP rankings.

Nadal consolidated his record in number of wins at Roland Garros, as well as his record of winning four Grand Slam titles, bringing his tally to 22, compared to 20 for Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
