Essendon meets retired Blue – CXCnews

Essendon has polled for former Carlton midfielder Liam Jones, according to Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary.

According to the report, the boss of the Essendon list, Adrian Dodoro, had an “informal” coffee with Jones in Queensland.

The 31-year-old chose not to be vaccinated against COVID and subsequently withdrew from the AFL after playing 95 games for the Blues from 2015 to 2021.

But with vaccine mandates easing across sectors in recent weeks, Jones could be welcomed back into the AFL fold if the league chooses to welcome back unvaccinated players.

Jones has played in the QAFL since then and is said to be eager to return to the AFL.
