Recent news of the hiring of Jake Schreier to direct Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts” movie has led to a question: Will we ever see actor Chris Evans again in the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America?

Evans pulled out of the role with “Avengers: Endgame” and has seemingly closed the door to any potential return in interviews in the years since. When he was doing promotion rounds for Pixar’s “Lightyear” movie, the actor seemed pretty clear about Phase Zero CB that he has no plans to return to the MCU, despite being aware of fans’ desire for it:

“Yeah, that seems to be something people would like to see. I don’t want to disappoint anyone, but I just don’t know if – you know, it’s hard. It was such a good run and I’m so happy with it, you know, it’s so dear to me. It should be perfect.

It would just be scary to, you know, add something that is, again, so-oh, so dear to me, and that role means so much to me. So to look at it again – it would be quite a task.”

Last April, word got out that a fourth “Captain America” is in development with “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier” showrunner Malcolm Spellman on board and likely to continue events from that series with Anthony Mackie as the new “Cap.” .

The trio of “Captain America” solo films made $2.2 billion at the worldwide box office.
