Facebook is introducing a new way for users to quickly access and organize their Facebook groups. Both admins and members can use the new organization features now tucked away in a new sidebar. This sidebar allows users to quickly jump in and out of groups and stay informed.
This sidebar shows all the groups a user belongs to, along with the last activity in the group that the user missed. The Channels sidebar also allows users to pin certain groups to the top so that you can easily keep an eye on them.
A new menu will also be visible within all your Facebook groups with elements such as events and shops to make it easier to discover new and relevant topics.
The company has also launched new ‘channels’ within groups that allow users to discuss and converse on topics of common interest. Facebook calls these channels “targeted spaces where people can connect in smaller, more casual settings within their communities.”
Group admins can now create smaller channels within a group, enabling new features such as a “Community Chat Channel” where group members can communicate from Messenger, or a “Community Audio Channel” where members can jump in and out of audio conversations in real life -time.
A Community Feed Channel is also a way for members to connect when it suits them best. Admins can organize their communities around topics within the group, allowing members to connect around more specific interests.
