The football association FIFA and World Athletics will review the regulations regarding the participation of transgender athletes before the end of the year.
It comes after the swimming governing body FINA voted to restrict transgender athletes’ participation in elite women’s competitions. FINA will also set up a committee to work towards establishing a third ‘open’ category for entry into future elite-level competitions.
