Gentleman Jack, Cancelled, HBO

Deadline has reported that HBO has canceled Mr Jack after two seasons. Created and written by Sally Wainwright, the drama series is based on the life of Anne Lister, a landowner and industrialist who recorded a lifetime of lesbian relationships in her coded diaries.

HBO will not continue with a third season of Mr Jack‘ the network said in a statement to Deadline. †When we embarked on this journey more than five years ago, we knew that series creator Sally Wainwright had a uniquely compelling vision, and it was immensely satisfying to watch Anne Lister’s journey resonate with viewers. We are incredibly grateful to Sally, the impeccable Suranne Jones and Sophie Rundle, and the entire cast and crew for bringing Anne and Ann’s story to life. We would also like to thank our partners at BBC and Lookout Point for working together during two remarkable seasons.Mr Jack with Suranne Jones as Anne Lister and Sophie Rundle as Ann Walker. The second season ended last month and followed Anne and Ann as they made their home in Shibden Hall with the intention of combing their estates and becoming a power couple.

The first season of Mr Jack debuted on HBO in the US and on BBC One in the UK in 2019. The second season was delayed by the pandemic, and when it finally returned, it was one of HBO’s lower-rated projects. In addition to Mr JackHBO also recently canceled the wife of the time traveler, an adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s bestseller. Are there any fans of Mr Jack out there who are sad to see the series get the axe?
