British newspaper “The Sun” said Ronaldo received a “six figure financial reward” days before informing Manchester United management of his desire to leave the team.
The paper quoted a source describing it as a United insider, saying: “Ronaldo’s announcement of his departure after the awards ceremony may not be just a coincidence.”
And last week it was reported that Ronaldo informed his team’s management of his desire to leave this summer, which United initially declined, especially as his contract is still valid.
But it seems that the English club officials finally agreed to the fait accompli and agreed to the departure of the “Don”, according to Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade.
Andrade said on his official Twitter account: “Manchester United have accepted the pressure (from Ronaldo) and are ready to sell.”
And he added: “The team management wants around 15 million euros (or 13 million pounds) to open the door for negotiations with interested clubs.”
Ronaldo is looking for a new team after a “disastrous season” without titles at Manchester United, where he finished sixth in the English Premier League, meaning he will not participate in the Champions League next season.
