Sky News political editor Andrew Clennell says there is no doubt that the smugglers are “marketing the change of government” in Australia as a reason to travel.
The Australian Border Force has intercepted the third asylum-seeker’s boat since election day.
“The government is convinced that as long as they send asylum seekers back, they will stop the flow of boats,” Clennell said.
“That’s how it worked in the past.”
