In-N-Out Burger at East Village

The American civilian giant only shows up in Sydney for one day.

Cult American burger chain In-N-Out pops up at the East Village Hotel in Darlinghurst today, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until sold out

The chain’s Double Double, Animal Style, and lettuce-wrapped Protein Style burgers are all on offer. It is first come, first served and limited quantities are available.

The family-owned and operated group last popped up in Sydney in 2019. It recently appeared in Perth and has also popped up in Melbourne and Brisbane over the years. At previous popups, burger fans have been queuing up from 4am.

In-N-Out has more than 300 burger restaurants in the United States, mostly on the West Coast. The chain is known for using only fresh (not frozen) food, paying fair wages to its staff, and never franchising the business — it keeps everything in-house for quality control.

Unusual for a fast food chain, it has found fans among celebrities with great taste: Gordon Ramsay, Thomas Keller, Anthony Bourdain and Julia Child have all expressed their love for In-N-Out. It was one of the few fast food restaurants to receive the endorsement in investigative journalist Eric Schlosser’s 2001 book Fast Food Nation.

In-N-Out opens June 29, 2022 at the East Village Hotel in Darlinghurst from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or until sold out).
