Jardim: The league in UAE includes more than 5 teams

Leonardo Jardim, the new coach of Shabab Al-Ahly (The Red Knights), gave his impressions of the competition in the ADNOC Professional League.

Jardim is playing his first adventure in the Emirates after having the Saudi Crescent (the leader) between June 2021 and February 2022.

The Venezuelan-born man revealed: “I’ve come to Dubai twice to talk to the Red Knights government, and we’ve discussed a lot of things, and I’ve also watched some Al-Ahly youth matches, and the same goes for the opponents.”

The Portuguese coach added: “I saw that the league includes more than 5 teams, and we have a lot of enthusiasm to be contenders for titles.”

Jardim confirmed: “I am very happy and proud of my contract with the Red Knights. It is a great team at the level of the Gulf and the Emirates, as it always participates in championships, and it has a great project that gives me the motivation to get started.”

In this regard, he continued: “I am working to combine the formation of a strong team without compromising my ambitions and the club’s ambitions to win titles, because if that were not in my interest I would not have agreed to the offer.”

The 47-year-old touched the Al-Ahly youth competition for the AFC Champions League title, after reaching the round of 16 of the continental championship, setting a date for the paradox with Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia, his former team.

Jardim replied: “My thought at the moment is to build a strong team that participates in tournaments. It is too early to talk about the Champions League and face the leader.”
