Sir Keir, who was shadow Brexit secretary in 2019, joined at least two pickets of striking McDonald’s employees and University and College Union members. Mr. Lammy attended picket lines in support of striking junior doctors in 2016, as well as university staff in 2018.
John McDonnell, the former shadow chancellor, said he, along with “many people in the Labor and union movement”, was disappointed with Labour’s stance.

Even Shadow Transport secretary Louise Haigh tweeted that “working people … have every right to fight for a fair pay raise and decent conditions”.
