Lady Gaga is in early talks to star opposite Joaquin Phoenix in director Todd Phillips’ sequel to 2019’s “Joker” at Warner Bros. pictures.
According to THR, if a deal comes through, Gaga would play Harley Quinn — a very different version of Margot Robbie — in a movie rumored to be a musical.
That’s very different from the dark and moody character part of the first film. It’s also unclear whether Phillips and the company are using other DC characters in the project.
Phillips co-wrote the script with Scott Silver for a while and finally showed it to the studio. Negotiations are underway with Joaquin Phoenix to return to his Oscar-winning role.
Phillips previously produced the remake of “A Star Is Born” in 2018, starring Gaga.
