A new Lord of the Rings anime movie revealed its voice cast on Wednesday. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrimdue out in 2024, starring Brian Cox from Succession, Gaia Wise from A Walk in the Woods and Miranda Otto, who played Eowyn in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, which was previously reported by Deadline.
The film was first announced in June last year. It will focus on Helm Hammerhand, the ninth king of Rohan, played by Cox. Luke Pasqualino (Snowpiercer) plays Wulf, the lord Dunlending who forces an attack on the king and his people. The king’s daughter Hera, played by Wise, is responsible for leading the resistance against the demise of Helm’s Deep. Otto returns to the voice of Eowyn, the narrator of the story.
The War of the Rohirrim is set 183 years before the events of Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, with a special focus on Helm’s Deep. Amazon is coming Lord of the Rings prequel seriescoming out in September, predates the animated film by more than a thousand years.
The anime is directed by Kenji Kamiyama and will premiere on April 12, 2024. New Line Cinema and Warner Bros Animation are behind the production of The War of Rohirrim.
