Exactly one year after his Fall/Winter 2021 collection, Marc Jacobs returned to the New York Public Library to present his Fall/Winter 2022 range.
“We have the art of not dying from the truth,” quoted the designer Nietszche in his show notes, adding, “Amid an ever-changing landscape of resources, unexpected obstacles and a world feverishly setting new standards of reality digitizes, my feeling is unwavering — creativity is essential to life.”
The show off the creative’s calendar was filled with clothes that were out of proportion, with what looked like a pair of oversized knit sweaters pinned together. Jacobs also played with denim and used surface treatments in bright shades of pink, purple and more.
Continuing the NYC designer’s new aesthetic, the FW22 collection further featured bulbous dresses, as well as chic wide-leg pants and super-sized bags, all paired with chunky platform boots. These silhouettes were contrasted with micro mini bras and cropped tank tops. The sleek looks were complete with shaved haircuts, which Gigi and Bella Hadid also wore as they walked the runway.
