Collingwood star Darcy Moore has avoided a dreaded ACL tear after being injured late in the Magpies’ thrilling Gold Coast win.

Moore hyperextended his knee in a marker game well into the final term at Metricon Stadium, requiring him to be assisted off the field, and was on crutches after the game.

However, scans cleared the All Australian defender of serious damage, although he is still expected to be on the sidelines.

The 26-year-old instead suffered a haircut and bruises on his bones, and his recovery time will be determined in the coming days.

Moore took to Instagram to break the news.

The absence of the star-backman is a blow to the Magpies, who currently have a six-game winning streak, putting them ideally placed for a shocking finals place in their first season under new coach Craig McRae.
