Tragic and shocking news for NASCAR lovers…
racing driver Bobby East died after being fatally stabbed this week in California. The 37-year-old three-time national champion was filling his tank at a service station 76 in Westminster on Wednesday when he was confronted by a man who stabbed him multiple times in the chest. According to a press release from the Westminster PoliceWhen police arrived at the scene, they quickly attempted life-saving measures after finding the racer on the ground who “suffered a serious stab wound to the chest area”. He was rushed to a local trauma center but sadly succumbed to his injuries.

No motive for the attack has been revealed at this time, but TMZ reports that the two had recently gotten into an argument for unknown reasons. Although the press release did not identify East as the victim, American car club reported on Friday that he had passed away, and several outlets confirmed the news. The USAC wrote in a statement:
“Bobby East, one of the most prolific drivers of his time and a three-time USAC National Champion driver in USAC Silver Crown and Midgets, died on the night of July 13, 2022 in Southern California. Born in Torrance, California, but home to Brownsburg, Indiana during his racing career, East achieved 56 SAC-approved job wins, 48 of which were in national divisions.
The man suspected of killing the NASCAR star is 27 years old Trent William Millsap (above, left inset), who already had an pending parole. Law enforcement sources told: TMZ that a SWAT team with a search warrant entered an Anaheim-area apartment after learning that he was hiding in an Anaheim-area apartment on Friday. He was shot dead when authorities tried to arrest him. The Orange County District Attorney is now investigating the incident. His sister has since gone to facebook to express her heartbreak over his death, writing:
“It is with a heavy heart that I am posting this message, my brother passed away last night, it has not yet dawned on me that he is no longer there. Please send your thoughts as we prepare for this arduous journey. I love you so much, brother.”
