Nicki Minaj – Prosecutors recommend 15 months in prison after husband Kenneth Petty fails to register as a sex offender in California

Kenneth Pettywho failed to register as a sex offender in California is expected to serve six months in prison, followed by a year of supervised release — which would be spent at the mansion he shares with Nicki Minaj† But prosecutors don’t think it’s an adequate punishment to be confined to a mansion with a swimming pool, a music studio and a beautifully landscaped backyard in a gated community.
“The government respectfully requests the court that the defendant be sentenced to a low-mandatory sentence of 15 months in prison, five years of supervised release, a mandatory $100 special assessment and a $55,000 fine.”
After the attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl he assaulted in New York City in 1994, Kenneth Petty is required to register as a sex offender in any state where he resides. He was reportedly well-versed in the rules and kept records of his sex offenders for nearly 20 years – until he Nicki Minaj†
In a recent file, prosecutors said:
“Having previously been convicted of attempted rape, the accused deliberately failed to register as a sex offender when moving to California.”
“The timing of [the] The lapse of Defendant’s registration is worrisome, as it happened when: [the] Defendant began dating his wife, resigned, moved to Los Angeles and adopted a prosperous lifestyle.”
As previously reported, the 1994 case resurfaced after the victim Jennifer Hough claimed Nickic and Kenneth had called her and tried to withdraw her statements. She claims the harassment started after the couple got together in 2018, prompting her to file a lawsuit against the couple.
Minaj was eventually removed from the lawsuit, but the one against Petty remains. They both deny Jennifer Hough‘s allegations.
Kenneth will be sentenced on July 6.
