He was also ordered to pay a $55,000 fine. CBS Los Angeles and MyNewsLA.com report.

His sentencing hearing was postponed several times due to the pandemic.

Federal prosecutors wanted Petty… serving a prison sentence — no house arrest in his luxury mansion in Calabasas with his wife.

Petty spent four years in prison in 1995 after pleading guilty to the attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl.

BACKGROUND

Petty is a Level 2 registered offender in New York, meaning he is considered a “moderate risk of recurrence”.

The FBI noted that Petty lives in a “gated affluent community” that includes a swimming pool, Nicki’s music studio, and their beautifully landscaped backyard — amenities unavailable to other criminals in prison.

In the documents obtained by TMZ, prosecutors said Petty lived up to his sex offender registry papers for nearly 20 years — until he met Nicki in 2019 and moved to Cali with her. There he stopped registering as a sex offender.

As the prosecutors described it, “Defendant began dating his wife, quit his job, moved to Los Angeles, and adopted a prosperous lifestyle.”

Petty told the court he didn’t know he had to register once he left New York state, but prosecutors said he was well versed in the rules after 2 decades.

His victim, Jennifer Hough, filed a lawsuit against him and Minaj, 39, accusing the pair of attempting to intimidate her into recanting her rape charges.

A judge dismissed Nicki’s lawsuit, but Petty’s still standing.
