“Phenomenal” McRae praised for igniting Collingwood revival

Craig McRae has Collingwood well and truly in the final chasing.

McRae masterminded the Magpies for a thrilling Queen’s Day victory over reigning Prime Minister Melbourne to further improve their qualifications for the final.

The freshman coach has sparked a Collingwood revival, with the Pies already racking up more wins in 2022 than in all of last year.

David King praised the “phenomenal” work McRae has done since he took office as coach last September.

“Coaching is important. The way Craig McRae set up that game yesterday (Monday) had a huge impact on that game early on,” King said. Whateley from SEN

“I’m in love with what he’s doing at Collingwood. It’s phenomenal what he’s done.

“He even has Mason Cox fire. It was a great spectacle yesterday.”

Monday’s win over the Demons was another major scalpel for the Magpies, having already beaten the top eight Carlton, Fremantle and St Kilda.

Garry Lyon says the 26-point margin could have been wider, like Collingwood’s superiority.

“I couldn’t be more complimenting the way they played yesterday,” Lyon said SEN Breakfast

“They should have been up front at half time, they should have been up front at half time and in the end the 26 points could have been bigger.

“They were excellent.”

The eighth-seeded Magpies (8-5) say goodbye this week before taking on GWS in the MCG on June 26.

Collingwood will aim for five straight wins when they meet the Giants in round 15.
