Philly bar shooting: Ejected patron kills 21-year-old Jailene Holton after 15 gunshots in pub

A 21-year-old woman was fatally shot at the Philly Bar and Restaurant in northeast Philadelphia when a disgruntled customer fired at least 15 shots into the building Tuesday night, police say.

Jailene Holton was taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where she died early Wednesday morning, her uncle James Holton told FOX29.

Police say three men caused a disturbance in the bar on block 2400 of Welsh Road around 11.30pm and were escorted out shortly before the shooting. One of the men harassed bar staff when he was knocked out, NBC10 reports.

That man then walked to a dark-colored pickup truck, fired at the bar and fled, authorities say.

He punched Jailene Holton, who found the first responders bleeding on the floor of the bar. Investigators do not believe she was the intended target.

Holton, a Target employee, came to the bar near her home as a designated driver after going to Top Golf with a friend from New Jersey. She rarely went to bars, her uncle said.

A man in his 30s who was slashed in the face by broken glass during the shooting has also been taken to hospital.

Investigators have interviewed dozens of eyewitnesses and are viewing surveillance footage of the incident, 6ABC reports. They do not believe that the other two men who were thrown out were involved in the shooting.

The men had interrupted a game of billiards in the bar, causing the disturbance that led to their removal.
