Platinum anniversary: Trafalgar Square briefly vacated

London –

British police briefly evacuated London’s Trafalgar Square on Saturday, close to where Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee celebrations will later be held, following reports of a suspicious vehicle, but said the safety alert had ended.

“This has been investigated and after the police took action, we have no further concerns. This was not related to terrorism,” the police said on Twitter.

A police spokesman previously said many checks were being carried out in the area, a short distance from where a concert outside Buckingham Palace will take place later in the day.
