The sponsor company of Tunisian tennis player Anas Jaber, nicknamed the Minister of Happiness, announced the postponement of its popular reception party until tomorrow, Friday.
The ceremony was scheduled for Thursday in the high street Habib Bourguiba in the center of the capital to celebrate the achievements of the Tunisian star, who made the final round of Wimbledon as the first player in Africa and the Arab region to achieve such a feat in the four Grand Slams.
Anas Jaber returned to Tunisia on Wednesday and was officially received at the airport by the ministers of youth and sports, women, transport and tourism, and the president of the Tunisian Tennis Federation.
A large number of fans and representatives of associations were also present to greet Anas Jaber.
The government’s mobile phone network operator and the player’s official sponsor sent text messages urging Tunisians to come in large numbers to honor Jaber.
This year, Jaber won the Madrid and Berlin titles and lost the final of the Rome Games. In 2021 she won her first professional title in Birmingham.
After a marathon season, Jaber will rest for a few weeks before resuming her US Open entry on August 29.
