A few weeks ago, Hulu unveiled a teaser trailer for the movie Preya new entry in the Predator franchise coming to the streaming service on August 5e. (Outside the US, Prey will be available to watch on Star+ and Disney+ Star.) A full trailer for the movie is now online, and you can watch it in the embed above.
The trailer starts off with a dodgy CGI bear, but it gets better as it progresses, eventually showing off some cool, intriguing action moments.
Confirmed to take place in 1719, Prey was directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) from a screenplay by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan† The film has the following synopsis:
300 years ago in the Comanche Nation, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She grew up in the shadow of some of the most legendary fighters to roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she pursues and eventually confronts turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
A press release states that “Prey will be available in full on Hulu in Comanche as a language option, or with Comanche subtitles, marking the first time a feature film on a direct-to-consumer streaming platform has been available in the Comanche language in its entirety.”
John Davis produced Prey with Marty Ewing and Jhane Myers, a native Comanche. Lawrence Gordon, Ben Rosenblatt, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff were executive producers.
Amber Midthunder (Roswell, New Mexico) stars alongside Dakota Beavers of the band WesternBoy, Stormee Kipp (sooyii), Michelle Thrush (The journey home), Julian Black Antelope (in tribal relationship), Cody Big Tobacco (The Revenant), Skye Pelletier (Burden of truth), Tymon Carter (the emigrants), and Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat (Shoresy), with Dane DiLiegro (American horror stories), a former six-foot basketball player who has experience working in creature suits, as the Predator.
