Real Madrid announce the departure of its leader.. How were Marcelo’s numbers with the European champion?

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Spanish club Real Madrid announced on Sunday the departure of team captain Marcelo, with the end of his contract with Meringue, and the management’s decision not to renew his contract, despite the wishes of the player to stay.

Marcelo’s contract expires on June 30 and he has spent 15 seasons with Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid CF would like to announce that tomorrow, Monday at 13:00 CET, there will be an institutional farewell party and tribute to captain Marcelo at Real Madrid,” the club said in a statement on its official website.

“After this event, Marcelo will address the media in the press room of the City of Real Madrid.”

Marcelo, 34, joined Real Madrid from Brazilian club Fluminense in the summer of 2007.

Marcelo played 545 games for Real Madrid during his career, scoring 38 goals and assisting 103 others.

Marcelo is considered the player with the most titles at Real Madrid as he has won 25 titles: the Champions League 5 times, the Club World Cup 4 times, the European Super Cup 3 times, the Spanish League 6 times, the Spanish Cup 5 times, the Spanish Super Cup (twice).

According to reports, Marcelo is on track to return to the Brazilian league, to look for continued participation to secure a place on his country’s roster in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
