Royal Oak Taco Fest brings tacos, tequila, live music and more | Things to do | Detroit

More than 40 taquerias, taco trucks and other eateries in the Detroit metro are teaming up for Royal Oak Taco Fest, which will fill downtown RO from Friday, July 1 through Monday, July 4.

Participating vendors include Tacos El Rodeo, Buffy’s Mexi-Casian Grill, Los Dos Amigos Taco Truck, Vegan Nova Taco Food Truck, and more. Contestants can then vote for their favorites to get the People’s Choice Awards, with categories such as Most Authentic, Most Creative, Best Overall, and Most Spicy.

The event also hosts over 50 musical acts, including: Among others, Alise King, Chirp, Stone Clover, Josie Pace and the Beggars. Mariachi bands and lucha Scale there will also be wrestling, and if all of the above doesn’t sound spicy enough to you, there will also be a hot pepper eating contest among other things. Did we mention the chihuahua parade?

The party takes place between South Main Street, West Fifth Avenue, Sixth and Seventh Street, and South Washington Avenue. The event is sponsored by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort and the Royal Oak Downtown Development Authority, and more details are available at: RoyalOakTacoFest.com
