Sandra Bullock takes some time away from her acting career – and she has no idea how long the hiatus will last.
The star previously said she would be taking a short break, a sentiment she doubled this week in an interview with THR†
“I’m so burned out. I’m so tired and I’m so incapable of making healthy, smart decisions and I know it,” she told the publication.
Most recently, Bullock starred in The Lost City opposite Channing Tatum, which was released earlier this year. She also has a role Brad Pittthe upcoming movie bullet train, which should hit theaters in August.
But that could be the last time we see the star for quite some time. When asked how long her break would be, she replied, “I really don’t know,” adding, “I don’t want to be tied to anyone’s schedule but mine.”
She continued: “The work has always been stable for me, and I have been so lucky. I realized it might become my crutch. It was like opening a fridge all the time and looking for something that was never in the fridge. †
“I said to myself, ‘Stop looking here because it doesn’t exist here. You already have it; establish it, find it and be good you don’t have work to validate you,’” she added.
Bullock definitely deserves a break: in addition to acting in the lost city, she also served as the film’s producer. It was a roaring success, earning $187.7 million ($269 million) worldwide at the box office.
She was passionate about turning the central character into a strong female role. “I wanted to be in a movie with action and adventure and comedy and elements of romance, and have it on a grand scale like the guys have it,” she said. 9Honey when the movie was released.
In the film, Bullock plays the reclusive author Loretta Sage, who writes about fantasy places in her novels. To sell her books, she uses the services of a cover model named Alan, aka Dash (played by Channing Tatum), who is overzealous and has a crush on Loretta.
