Spider-Man: No Way Home seems to be catching more dough in its web, returns to theaters with new version

How much silk can you squeeze out of a spider? That’s the question Sony wants to know, and they’re going to find out this Labor Day weekend. The studio announced Friday that an expanded version of the runaway superhero photo Spider-Man: No Way HomeOriginally released in December last year, it will return to theaters at the end of the summer.

“You wanted more Spidey and you got it!” read the movie’s official Twitter account, featuring not one, not two, but three spider emojis. As such, all Spider-Men, Tom HollandTobey Maguireand Andrew garfield appeared in a small video. They each introduced themselves as Spider-Man, and then there comes a point in the movie where Garfield says, “We’ve got to do this one more time.” Do you understand?

After that, a title card was announced Spider-Man: No Way Home—The More Fun Stuff Versionwith the date September 2 (Perfect back-to-school activity!)

What exactly is the “nicer stuff”, you ask? Well this remains to be seen but The Hollywood Reporter wrote that “viewers can look forward to added and extended scenes not part of the original version which debuted on December 17.”

The film, the third-highest-grossing film of all time in North America and sixth in the world, could potentially creep a little higher in the record books with the reissue. It only needs $54 million to surpass Avengers: Endgame and claim the number two spot in their own country. A daunting task for some, but not for the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!

A change in the global record seems a little less likely, as it will take an additional $162 million to catch up Avengers: Infinite War. But never count a child from Queens – three children from Queens – out!

While the Jon Watts-directed image, co-starring ZendayaJacob BatalonBenedict Cumberbatchand, in short, Martin Starr is already available for home viewing via a six dollar rental on platforms such as Amazon, iTunes, Vudu and YouTube, the promise of (say it again) more fun stuff could very well inspire Spider-Fans back to the theater.

Due to the unusual contracts surrounding Spider-Man’s intellectual property, even though the character is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film isn’t heading to Disney+ anytime soon. However, it will be available on the Starz subscription service sometime in the fall. Especially after this last theatrical swing.
