Swiss court acquits Joseph Blatter and Michel Platini of corruption charges

Baghdad/NinaThe Federal Criminal Court in Belinzona, Switzerland, on Friday issued a decision acquitting Joseph Sepp Blatter, the former president of the International Football Association (FIFA) and Michel Platini, the former president of the European Union for the Game (UEFA), of corruption charges against them.

The Swiss Federal Criminal Court acquitted Blatter, who had been FIFA president for 17 years, from charges of fraud, and also issued a similar decision also acquitted Platini, France’s former captain and coach, of fraud charges.

The Swiss prosecutor had previously refused during the trial to demand a harsh sentence against Platini and Blatter, demanding a prison term of one year and eight months, with a suspended sentence for them. / End 2
